Fehr Forgeworks was founded by artist Graeson Fehr to express his passion for creating functional artwork. Each piece is hand crafted in his workshop in Winnipeg, with special attention to detail and careful consideration for using high grade and durable materials.

Each piece starts with the steel choice, and Graeson chooses from over a dozen different alloy or stainless steels depending on the blade to ensure that the properties of the chosen steel work well for the intended use. For example, AEBL is our favourite chosen steel for culinary blades, as the grain structure of the steel allows for a very fine but tough edge, balancing durability, edge retention, and ease of maintenance.

Handle material is also a very important decision, as a material that holds well in the hand and is durable is important. Furthermore, the aesthetics of the handle are a consideration. Graeson sources handle materials from all across the world, and strives to choose unique, durable materials that can provide a lasting connection for the customer.
